Brennan Noeth Snowboarding Accident

Donation protected

As some of you may know, on Friday, May 12th, 28-year-old Brennan Noeth was in a snowboard accident on Blackcomb Mountain. He was airlifted from Whistler to the Vancouver General Hospital and taken into an emergency surgery. The surgery included the installation of rods and plates set in place to stabilize his spine. He damaged several vertebrae and completely severed his spinal cord between T11 and T12. As a result of his injuries, Brennan is paralyzed from his mid lower back and will never regain the ability to walk.

He is now beginning recovering in the spinal unit of the hospital. The plan is to begin physical therapy with a team of amazing specialists here in Vancouver. Brennan will be staying in the hospital for an indeterminate amount of time after which he will transition into the G.F. Strong Rehab Centre to teach and rehabilitate him into his new life. This whole process could take anywhere from a few months to a couple of years.

This is a life altering adjustment for him, his partner, Terri, and his loved ones. Not only because his entire way of life will change, but his very active lifestyle has also come to a sudden halt. Brennan has always loved and pursued an outdoor lifestyle including snowboarding, hiking, camping, cliff jumping, traveling, and exploring. Moving forward, there will be immense effort put forward to help support him in continuing to do what he loves, but it will need to be done in different ways.
He is beyond strong willed and always pushed himself to do better in whatever activity he was participating in. His positive and patient attitude has always helped those he taught as well. There is no doubt this will be the biggest change and challenge in his life. Brennan's attitude is shining through. During recovery, he has already been discussing to what level he will be able to participate in sports again. We are all brainstorming ways he can adapt to continue doing the things he loves. Living his life to the fullest is everyone's ultimate goal.

We are reaching out for support. This gofundme is to support Brennan and Terri during their stay in Vancouver, help set up Brennan with new supplies and equipment needed for aiding him, and to help create the foundation for their new life. Some of these items would include wheelchairs, accessible rental accommodations or renovations, new aids for daily living, an accessible vehicle, and much much more. Any donations that exceed this can and will be used by Brennan and Terri to get their recreational lifestyle back to a 'norm' and would also provide some more time to access spinal recovery facilities.

For all of the above, other alternatives have and will be exhausted. Brennan is unable to work and Terri is needing to leave work for the near future to be by his side which we applaud and support. Alleviating as much of the financial stress as possible is very important. These financial circumstances can be endlessly complex. The wait lists and time frames for government support also take time to kick in.

To those who have been fortunate enough to visit, and those who have been reaching out and supporting from a distance, we greatly appreciate your care and support through this challenging time.

We understand not everyone is in a position to donate, but would be grateful if you could please help by sharing this and spreading the word within your networks.

Thank you
The Noeth, Timmins, Boothman, and Jenkins Family
