Brenden my husband went into the emergency room August 30th for back pain and vomiting blood. After 2 days of tons of tests the Drs decided to do a endoscopy and found that veins in his esophagus above his stomach had burst and filled his lungs and stomach with blood. They did immediate emergency surgery. He was placed on a respirator and was given several blood transfusion. His kidneys and liver had also started to shut down. I was told he didn't have a very good chance of making it through the night.
Fast forward 3 weeks of up and down nonstop medical care in the ICU. He has been placed on dialysis and is still on the respirator. They had to medically paralyze him so he wouldn't fight the ventilator. He is still fighting daily for his life. Some days are better and some days he crashes. Our insurance covers 60% after our deductible and the average ICU stay is upwards of $20,000 a day. They are thinking he will be in here several more weeks.
It has been such a stressful time in his life and also mine. The support of our friends and family have been wonderful. The nonstop prayers and words of encouragement has helped me so much in this horrible time.
Dr Miller and the nurses and staff at Community Hospital have gone above and beyond to help my husband. I just love them!
Thank you for your love and support for my family.
