Hello friends and family of the amazing Brenda Wickett. Thank you very much for visiting this fundraising page.
Brenda has been officially diagnosed with Moyamoya syndrome. Moyamoya is a rare blood vessel disorder in which a ring of blood vessels at the base of your brain and the uppermost segments of the arteries supplying the brain progressively narrow, causing blood flow to the brain to become reduced. She lives day to day not knowing if a stroke could happen today, or when she’s 100. The risk is that high.
Next month Brenda and Tracy will pack a bag and head to California to have TWO surgeries to reroute the problem causing arteries and alleviate the pain she has experienced off and on for the past few years. She will be there for approximately 3 weeks.
When this disease began affecting Brenda, the medical bills started pouring in excess of $40,000. Paying these bills has been a struggle not to mention supporting their daughter while she attends college at Iowa State University. Asking for financial assistance is something the Wickett’s would never in a million years dream of doing, but there comes a time when it’s ok to receive help and now is it. Any amount, no matter how big or small is helpful. You don’t even have to identify yourself, you can remain anonymous. While many uncertainties remain, we do know that Brenda has one of the biggest hearts and spirits around.
