Brendan's Eagle Project

My name is Brendan Szymanski. I am a Boy Scout with Troop 573 in Woodinville, WA. I'm currently working on my Eagle Scout project at the Tri-Parish Food Bank in Burlington, WA -- and I need to raise more money to complete it.
I have volunteered at the food bank for the past several years. I saw a potential need that eventually grew into my Eagle Project. My project is to design and construct a children's outdoor activity area adjacent to the food bank.
The completed project will help families by containing and entertaining the young children while their parents stand in line (many arrive an hour before the food bank opens).
The food bank supports close to ten thousand people in the Skagit Valley area each year, including migrant farm workers, single moms, children, veterans, working families, the homeless, homebound, and people with disabilities.
The sooner we reach our goal, the sooner these kids can have a place to play and feel safe. Your support will leave a lasting positive impact on a less fortunate community.
Here's my progress so far.
"Before" picture
Cemented the fence posts.
Spread 6 cubic yards of gravel.
Built a 44' cedar fence (4x4s have been leveled off)
The activity area will include the following 4 things:
- 3’ x 6’ outdoor wooden xylophone (similar to this one)
- 2’ diameter whale drum (already donated)
- Large-scale abacus (balls are 3" in diameter)
- PVC pipe instrument
I need additional funds to complete my project and furnish my play area with these outdoor activities.
If you choose to donate:
- Your donation is tax deductible. The food bank is a 501c3 nonprofit organization. If you need a receipt please let me know.
- You will not be charged a fee for your donation.
- The money I raise will be deposited immediately into my Troop's Eagle Scout account.
- If I happen to raise more money than I need, that extra money will be donated to the Tri-Parish Food Bank.
