Brenda: Beating Cancer Again
Donation protected
It's happened again...I was diagnosed with cancer, again.
Just a few months shy of my 20th cancer-free anniversary, I found a lump in my right boob and was diagnosed with Invasive Ductal Carcinoma - breast cancer.
As many of you know, I have already survived Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma when I was a child. I have already gone through all the tests, all the doctors, all the sickness, all the chemo. I was eleven years old the first time. Old enough to remember it all...and be scared of ever having to go through it again.
Yet, here I am...thirty-three years old and facing another battle with cancer.
This time is different though, I'm a grown adult with a house and bills to worry about. My husband and I have savings, but not enough to last. I have short term disability through work, but that only covers partial pay, for a short time.
My doctors and I have decided a bilateral mastectomy is the best option for long term survival, minimizing the chance of recurrence as much as possible. My surgery is December 14th and I will be off work for at least a month recovering. The journey will then continue into 2017, with chemotherapy. Although there is no timeline for this as of yet, the research shows it can last anywhere from 3-12 months. This time off work, with minimal and possibly no pay, will devastate our life and household.
We are asking you to help us out, to lend a hand. Anything you can give is much appreciated and will go directly to paying our household bills during this trying time. If you are unable to give, please keep praying and share this page with others.
We love you all and are so grateful for each and every donation, and each and every prayer. Thank you!
