Hi! My name is Kellen and I’m raising money to help pay for the funeral costs of a loved one who passed away this week - Michael Bullock. He was my girlfriend’s father and made a significant impact on my life and others around me. He may have lost a long battle to Pulmonary Fibrosis (chronic and progressive lung disease) but won the hearts of everyone around him and showed that it’s possible to live a joyous and fulfilling life regardless of physical illness.
Michael taught me a lot about family values, loving others, and ALWAYS being grateful no matter the circumstance. I never heard him complain and that was also his favorite song by the artist “Benjamin Clementine.”
Michael was diagnosed with Pulmonary Fibrosis in 2007. As mentioned above, this is a chronic and progressive lung disease that is very difficult to treat (there are no cures aside from a lung transplant which is extremely risky). Most people who are diagnosed have a life expectancy of 3-5 years and he lived with the disease for nearly 11. In the final stages of this disease, he was admitted to the hospital for 2 weeks and fought every single day for each breath until he couldn’t anymore.
The title of my campaign is called “Breathe for Bullocks” because it symbolizes the hard time Michael had while breathing his lung disease and how you can help their family breathe a little bit easier by helping finance their medical bills and funeral costs. The donations will specifically be paying for the following:
Funeral Center - $2150 (est.)
Burial - $8500 (est.)
Materials for Burial - $300 (est.)
Hospital - $5,130 (est.)
Ambulance - $500 (est.)
This cause is important to me because Michael is leaving behind a lovely wife and two beautiful daughters - one who just got accepted to U.C. Berkeley (youngest) and they have a long road of healing ahead of them. They are the most loving family I have ever met and have given back so much to their communities through the church, charities, donations, volunteering, etc… it only seems fair that we should be able to give back to them. They never ask for help or handouts and would be deserving of any contributions they might receive.
