Memorial for Song Her's Breast Cancer Battle

This is a love story. One that doesn’t flow along the same lines that we would normally think of when we hear “love story”, but one that truly defines what is needed in these times of chaos and confusion. A story that I’ve been able to witness and one that I’m motivated to share with all of you now so thank you for reading and sharing.
Rev. Lee Her and Song Her (Kx. And NKx. Num Nyaj Hawj) have served in many capacities in their time in ministry. They have done so with a graceful and dignified dedication to the ones they served, because they understand their calling from God. All who know them call them friends and have experienced the love they freely share. Their marriage and ministry have been a beacon to those who have been blessed by their presence. Lee and Song moved to Colorado to serve within The Hmong District of the C&MA and where they established their family (Sunshine, Amanda, Angel, Josiah, and Jeremiah) to help the churches across the nation, as well as managing the radio ministry that has been able to help many around the world to come to know the Lord.
In 2018 with changes afoot, Song was diagnosed with an aggressive strain of breast cancer which has challenged them as a family but has not deterred them in their calling to serve. They left the district and made the move in 2018, in the midst of this battle, to continue serving within a small local church in Northeast Georgia, Victory Hmong Alliance Church. The church has surrounded them with love and support when she went through her treatments and eventual mastectomy. Everything was steadily improving for much of 2019, but with the start of the new year the cancer has now come back even more aggressively and has spread to other vital organs. As such, the battle continues against cancer and ever more hopeful, Song has continued to be a pillar of strength for her family and for the church.
What is exasperating the world with this new virus is making a difficult situation within their battle even harder. This is where the love story can be shared. It is a tough time, and all the more difficult as Song continues to deal with the pain and the understanding of the reality of cancer yet they don’t talk about the hurt and the sadness that cancer has brought into their lives, but she still continues to encourage others and to remind them that God is a place of refuge. This selfless mindset is shared through the entire family which has not given up hope and with every challenge they continue to step up to encourage and help others to understand their journey and to share the hope of this story. It would be easy to give in and give up, and to be selfish about this situation, yet they continue to show the love and grace of God to those around them. Through the long nights and the many tears shed, they still see this as an opportunity to encourage others and to continue to serve the church. The love they understand has been bestowed upon them should be shared with those around them. As they continue their battle with this cancer, they have not stopped in serving others with the ministry that they’ve been called to because they understand the greater reward is yet to come.
I have been able to see their struggles, but it is their hope and love that has moved me to share their story with you to help them during this time. This year has been a difficult period for the world, and the uncertainty of what this virus brings makes it hard to ask for some help when so many others are also suffering. The family has been hesitant to ask for any assistance because they are truly selfless to avoid asking for anything, but I’m writing this to encourage all who have experienced the love from Song, as well as any who have a heart of compassion to please remember her and her family during this time.
What assistance you can give will be used to help them with medical and living expenses and to offset the many bills that has already depleted their finances. Prayers will always be appreciated. The family has created a Facebook Page “Our Her Family ” where you can stay up to date on Song’s progress and where they would like to share their hopes and encouragement with all of you. Please feel free to share your thoughts and prayers with them on there as well.
Thank you in advance for your assistance for the family and especially for your continued prayers for Song and the family.
May God Bless and Watch Over All of You!
