Breast Cancer Fundraiser for Eva Simpson

Hi! My name is Katherine and I have the pleasure of having the world's greatest best friend, Eva Simpson. Unfortunately, Eva and her husband, Bud, are going through the unimaginable, and they need our help and support as they go through this difficult time.

In 2017, at 27 years old, Eva was diagnosed with Stage II triple-negative breast cancer. She underwent 3 years of treatment and after much hardship, it looked promising that Eva’s cancer was in remission. Finally, Eva and Bud began the process of rebuilding their lives after cancer.

But in August of 2023, Eva and Bud’s worst fears became a reality when a routine MRI revealed suspicious nodules in Eva’s lungs that were ultimately confirmed cancerous. These nodules indicated that Eva’s breast cancer metastasized from her breast to her lungs. This metastatic cancer is classified as stage IV, and by definition, has no cure.

The past few weeks have weighed heavily on Eva, Bud, and their families as they wade through doctor visits, scans, and long calls with insurance, all while slowly accepting the reality that the foreseeable future, and likely the rest of her life, will be dedicated to survival and overcoming the odds.

After consulting with cancer centers around the country, the likely treatment schedule is to undergo chemotherapy and immunotherapy until the treatment stops working, and then pivot to more experimental treatments to keep the cancer at bay. Incorporating diet, exercise, and holistic remedies to complement the traditional treatment schedules has shown promising results too.

The cost of these treatments, consultations, supplements, and everything that goes into fighting the odds is staggering for them. Ultimately, Eva will likely need out of state care at a major cancer center such as Moffitt, MD Anderson, or Sloan-Kettering. Unfortunately, this out-of-network care won’t be covered by their insurance.

Eva and Bud are two of the most incredible people I have ever met, and I know if you've had the pleasure of meeting them too, you'd agree. Eva is strong and will make every effort to overcome this; she’s a young woman with dreams and plans and a resilient spirit that’s undeterred by statistics. Eva and Bud are determined to leave no stone unturned in their battle against this disease. They’ve fought together in the trenches with it before, and are ready to do the same again.

She needs to allocate all of her focus to fighting this disease, and we want to help her do that.
