I am starting a GoFund me account for my Grandson Braydan who is currently fighting for his life at sick kids hospital.
Braydan Giles was born August 26th 2017 healthy as can be. On October 13th 2017 my daughter and her husband found themselves rushing their son to the hospital where tests revealed Braydan's white blood cell count was extremely high and he needed to be transported to sick kids hospital.
This was just the beginning of what has been a very scary and exhausting journey.
At this time Braydan is in the biggest fight he's ever been in. He has been unresponsive since October 25th 2019. As of right now we dont have any definite answers on what's going on. The doctors continue to run tests, check blood work, treat with high doses of steroids and so much more.
Braydan has an issue with his immune system. He was never able to fight off infections and Was prone to blood infections. After sending out blood and doing a lot of test he is classified as a SCID child which is sever combined immunodeficiency. The only hope we had was a bone marrow Transplant which he had may 23 2018.
He has battled with gut issues after getting noro virus in january 2018 and lives on tpn. Tpn is nutrition in a bag it gives him everything he needs because he wasnt able to eat.
He suffered from gvhd (graft vs host) has had many rashes and many more blood infections.
He has had numerous picc lines and cvls which runs his tpn and antibiotics.
At this time he was septic and had a horrible blood infection and is dystonic. We found lesions on his brain which has caused a lot of damage.
We don't know what rehabilitation he will need and what we will need going home. We don't know if he will come out of the state he is in.
Braydans Father steven has had to leave his employment to be with his son and his mother Kayla has not been able to go back to work either. She currently resides at the Ronald mcdonald house with her other son while steven stays at the hospital with Braydan.
We are trying to raise money to help provide Braydan with the things he needs and to help with expensive like rent at the Ronald mcdonald house.
We have a facebook page called Braydans army where she updates Braydans conditions. Anyone wanting to follow Braydans journey is more than welcome on the page.
