'Brave the Shave! .. Lets beat cancer together!!

Am I crazy? Yes!, am I insane? Yes! Do I love my crazily coloured hair? Yes! But I have decided to bravely take on the ‘brave the shave’ challenge! I want to raise money and support the amazing cause that is cancer research, but not only for that, but to donate to skin cancer and rare cancer research. For those of you who know me personally, you will understand my passion for this. If you don’t know me personally then this is my story...

 

At the age of 14 I was diagnosed with a quite rare hereditary uncurable/lifelong condition called ‘Gorlin Goltz syndrome (Gorlins’). This condition plays a huge part in my life as it causes sight impairment, cysts in my jaw, reoccurring cancers growing all over me, meaning I must have regular surgeries every 6-12 weeks, causing multiple scars all over my body, which will continue to happen as we have no cure right now.

 

I live with this condition daily, but I never let it define me! I'm not going to let cancer win! I am not going to let this condition stop me getting my nursing degree and having an amazing career. Even though I am living with the effects of this condition personally, I am braver and stronger for it. In the hope that one day we will find a cure for not only my condition but all other cancer conditions out there, leaving behind amazing cures for the future generations of this world.

 

The 6-letter word ‘cancer’ affects so many people in their life, it destroys lives so often and leaves a lasting effect on people left behind. Shocking statistics that 1 in 2 of us will get a form of cancer in our lifetime. Together with cancer research we can make a difference.

 

I am not doing this for sympathy, I am doing this as awareness of rare conditions unknown to the country and helping raise money for a worthy cause! So please, dig deep and sponsor my ‘brave the shave’!
