As you can tell by the smile in the photo, Brandyn is a very young, vibrant, and happy individual!
Two days after Christmas (12/27/17), Brandyn received shocking news and was diagnosed with an intrinsic brain tumor that resides in the left side of his frontal lobe (Broca’s area), the part of the brain that controls his speech.
Like many families, we are now faced with the difficult and uncertain road that lies ahead of us. The Neuro-oncologist (Dr. Cahill) will try to remove all of the tumor during surgery. The risk of this is that Brandyn's tumor lies within the broca's area, where his speech may be affected. Once the tumor is removed the surrounding tissues will be sent to pathology, where the severity of the tumor will be determined. Brandyn's road to recovery may be long and challenging, but we are hopeful, ready to fight this with everything we've got, and trust the process.
Although still early in the process of receiving treatment, it is certain that Brandyn's treatment will create a heavy financial burden for both his immediate and extended family.
He will be having brain surgery to remove the tumor towards the end of January at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.
