Brampton Hill Skating Academy (BHSA)

Founded and Directed by Acacia Hill, Brampton Hill Skating Academy (BHSA) is the first Black-Owned Figure Skating School in Canada.  Based out of Brampton, Ontario, they opened their doors on September 9, 2019.  The main goal of BHSA is to create a safe space for minority and figure skaters of colour to train at. They are actively fighting for more representation in the sport with the help of a diverse team of coaching staff.

Funds donated from this GoFundMe campaign will be allocated to:

-Solidifying a permanent residence at the current ice location that is being rented

-To help fund initiatives that will encourage minority and coloured skaters who are interested in getting involved in the sport.  Minorities are getting priced out of the sport and BHSA is looking to make a change in this statistic.

-To continue to grow the awareness of the school as well as minorities in figure skating by putting on events, performances and seminars

-Bringing in other top skaters of colour to help train and inspire students. It is important for the youth of the sport to have skaters to look up to and learn from that they can identify with. BHSA is interested in fostering these types of connections and mentorships.
