URGENT: Brad’s Cancer and CRPS Medical Fund

Donation protected
***UPDATE***
Brad was let go from his job unexpectedly due to his pain condition. The focus has now changed to keeping a roof over our heads and food on the table. Brad’s Insurance cut off in January and we don’t know how Brad is going to keep seeing his current pain management doctor or pay for his cancer follow-ups. Cobra was not an option as we could not afford it. His doctors have told him he can’t work and should focus on his quality of life moving forward. Disability seems to be the only option but we don’t know how long this will take to process if it’s even approved the first time submitted. Even then the amount received won’t even cover our rent payment. Any amount helps us find peace and will help us pay rent, bills, etc. until all this stuff gets worked out. Brad sends his love.

We look to friends, family and strangers in order to give Brad the blessing of peace and health. Brad has reached his limits of what he handle physically and emotionally. He spends his nights up screaming and crying in pain. For those that don’t know CRPS is rated the highest on all pain scales (even higher than natural child birth). He experiences this pain 24/7. It’s heartbreaking to watch.
We are desperately looking to raise funds to send Brad to the Spero clinic to see if his CRPS can be put into remission. The cost of the clinic is $47,000. Brad has paid for so many out of pocket treatments that have all failed. This comprehensive 14 week program promises an 85% success rate and is the last hope to get Brad back to his pain free, energetic and charismatic self.
There are so many things that we could add to this goal such as ongoing cancer monitoring costs and past due medical bills estimated into the hundreds of thousands of dollars, but we just want to see Brad better. He’s experiencing so much pain and has stayed so strong by continuing to work through it to provide for us. It’s time to let him heal and find peace. He needs a reset on life or we are afraid that we are going to loose him to this disease. As it is, it a constant struggle to get him to follow up on his oncologist visits. He has expressed that he “should have let the cancer take him” on multiple occasions. We are all very concerned because this just isn’t the Brad we know. Any help or promotion of this request for assistance, prayers and love would be much appreciated.

Brad’s Medical Journey:

Cancer: On Tuesday, 4/10/18, Brad was diagnosed with cancer. He was quickly scheduled for surgery on Tuesday 4/17/18 to remove the mass. To put your minds at ease, the doctors found it very early and do not seem concerned for his life, but he will require lifelong screening that involves frequent CT scans, Oncology visits and blood work.

CRPS:
Brad has, more recently, been diagnosed with CRPS (Chronic Regional Pain Syndrome). Those that don’t know, Brad suffered a disabling accident in 2006. He was struck by a car while working his way through college as a Valet driver. He was off work for 3 years while he had multiple surgeries and relearned how to walk. Doctors ultimately discovered that he has a crushed nerve in his left leg and would experience nerve pain and drop foot indefinitely. He battled hard to regain his ability to work and provide.
Soon after his recovery he started to experience pain in a different way. This was only heightened after his cancer surgery. His pain began to become unmanageable. He was ultimately diagnosed with CRPS/RSD. He continues to be a warrior for his family. Info on CRPS:

Another Setback:
Brad suffered a fall at work on 8/19/2022 where he re-injured his leg and fell and suffered a head and neck injury. He is currently suffering from post concussion syndrome as well as a neck/back injury. He sees a spinal specialist on November 27, 2023 to discuss a disc replacement or spinal fusion for his neck injury. His biggest concern is that his CRPS symptoms may spread to his head, neck and left arm if the surgery does not go as planned. He is also concerned that if he doesn’t have surgery that his symptoms will progress and his CRPS will ultimately spread no matter the decision. He asks that prayers/vibes be sent out that the best decision is made for his future.

Update: Brad’s surgeon won’t operate on him due to his CRPS has already spread to his neck and arm due to his work injury.

Update: Brad was unexpectedly let go from his dream job at SDSU after his return to work. We are at a complete loss. Please send prayers to relieve the anxiety and pain that Brad and the family are feeling due to this loss. If you know Brad, you know that SDSU was his world. He lived for helping students and the SDSU community. This has always kept him going through all his trials and tribulations with his health. Please pray that his path is shown and that he can find some peace during this transition. Brad sends his love.

Just a little about Brad:
Brad is an amazing and loving person especially to those closest to him or those in need. He absolutely loves sports and most of all his Aztecs. Brad worked on SDSU’s campus as the branch manager for U.S. Bank for 10 years where he had the unique opportunity to give back to the student community. He is a member of the SDSU’s Economic Crisis Response Team where he helps students in need to find help financially and emotionally to get back on their feet. He is also contributed as an advisor for the Zahn Innovation Center where he has helped guide SDSU’s start up business’ toward financial success. Brad works with the Guardian Scholars program on campus by teaching budgeting courses and providing one on one support to students adjusting to college life. He also helped develop and presented for the sophomore success program that teaches a wide range of financial topics to the SDSU community. In short, Brad loves to give back to his alma matter and is a true Aztec for Life.

Brad received the blessing of being hired on at SDSU and has now been an official SDSU employee for over 5 years. He loves his role and being able to be more closely involved in students lives and continuing his efforts towards the wellbeing of the student population.
Update: SDSU made the decision to let Brad go. He is absolutely heartbroken at the moment. Please pray that God shows Brad a new path and reason to keep moving forward.

About Brad:
Brad lives a very selfless life and spends a lot of his time and resources on people that are down on their luck. He has opened his home to strangers and treated them as family to show them a better life and what true family is. He loves his family and his close group of friends. He would give his shirt off his back to someone in need and has proven this time and time again. He’s gone out of way to make people’s lives better and now I want to do the same for him. We understand that not everyone is in the position to give but if you can share this and send prayers Brad’s way it would be much appreciated. We send our love and assure you we are doing everything in our power to bring back stronger than ever.

Please put us in your prayers! ✌️
