World Championships for Marlena Hinkle

Over a year ago Marlena Hinkle wrote out her goals that she had for rock climbing.  The last goal was to make the US Team for Sport Climbing.  That goal came to fruition today as she accepted her invitation to be part of the team to travel to the World Youth Championships from September 19 - 23.  The competition will be in New Calendonia, an island in the Pacific Ocean East of Australia.  She has trained so hard working everyday either in the gym with her coaches Ray, Gino, and Jessie at On the Edge gym or at home.  In only her first full year of competing, she has been to the National Championship for the American Bouldering Series (14th place) and just this past July in the Sport Climbing Series (5th place). 
Not only has she been training for this, she has also kept a perfect 4.0 GPA at Eau Gallie High School while taking Pre-AICE classes as a ninth grader, been elected treasurer of the FCA, an active member of the Best Buddies Club, inducted to the Beta service club,the AICE Leadership team and a strong member of the Holy Name of Jesus youth group.  We are very proud of her and everything that she has accomplished so far and can't wait to see what else she does. 
As you can tell she is a very determined young lady and is looking forward to this opportunity to continue building on her rock climbing and character strengths. Please help us send her to the World Youth Championships!
