In Memory Of Our Loving Father Ezra Ben-Ari

Donation protected

We are asking for your help with a memorial for our father, Ezra Ben-Ari, so he can be buried near family he loved.

We don’t know how this can be happening? Until just a few weeks ago our father was working. He had just turned 80 years old the beginning of September, and he was still the accomplished salesman he had been for 50 years, living in his own apartment. We thought he would go on forever. He has been the source of wisdom, of stories about his life, and of love. How can someone so vibrant  leave us?

Yet just hours before the beginning of Rosh HaShanah, the Jewish New Years, as he had finished his shopping for the Holiday, he had an auto accident that would turn his whole life and ours on its head. At first he seemed reasonably OK, banged up and bruised, but seemingly alright. He went to the hospital ER to be checked out, and they admitted him as a precaution.

Then everything went wrong.   They found hitherto undiagnosed pneumonia, and a whole cascade of other medical problems raised their heads. He spent time in the ICU but was then transferred back to a regular hospital room.

We were very optimistic. But that same afternoon, he went into cardiac arrest; and the hospital staff did CPR on him, and he went back into the ICU in an induced coma.

He never woke up. He began to improve somewhat after several days.  However, late in the night he passed away.  Our hearts are broken and we are devastated! We had just celebrated his 80th Birthday, and now we are facing a funeral.

We are asking you to help us with a memorial and funeral near his very large family in Israel, which is what he wanted.  Any help you can provide would be more than welcome.

This page was created by Yael Ben-Ari on behalf of Ezra and my two sons, Michael and Daniel in their voices.  All funds will be used for memorial and burial arrangements as well as any remaining hospital expenses.
