Haiti church building fundraiser

If you look around your town, big or small, chances are there is at least one church at the center of the community. In a small town, a church plays an important role in providing not only spiritual services but social and public services as well. In a sense, It’s a reflection of that community. The small village I grew up with in Haiti named Boucan Belier only has one Catholic church. My parents got married there and my sisters were baptized there. It was a place for us children to play, sing, and socialize with our friends on Sunday mornings. No one is sure when it was built although some speculate it was around 1840’s. What everyone is sure of is its impact of this tight knit community to which the church provided monetary and other aide when other systems were not available.

This January 1st 2018, my family visited Haiti and we were invited to take part of the new year day mass, the last mass that was held in that church after over 140 years.  Even after countless hurricanes, storms, and a devastating earthquake, the church still stands with bright natural sunlight light flowing through its broken walls. It was however badly damaged by the 2010 earthquake and a new one is badly needed.

I am reaching out for your support in helping us rebuild this amazing landmark. This is the community that shaped me into the man that I am today and I need your help to give back. Boucan Belier has been devastated by flooding year after year and many have lost their lands and crops, and even lives. This church will serve as reminder that God is among us and not all hope are lost. I am reaching out to friends, colleagues and family to raise as much money as possible to help this little community in achieving their dream of building a new place of worship.

All the funds raised will go toward the reconstruction of the new church. Demolition has already started even though they haven’t raised all the funds needed.

Thank you for your generosity  and support and may God continue to bless you and your family.
