Boscoe is my 5 year old cat that me and my son adopted as a kitten back in April of 2016 with his sister Daisy. I never thought I'd fall in love with another animal the way I did my cat Charlie years ago, but this guy proved me wrong in so many ways. I call him my "angel kitty", because I feel like he's saved my life in so many ways. He can sense when I'm down, and always can pull me out of a slump or depression. I love Boscoe more than I could ever type into words.
That said, last week I had to rush Boscoe to the animal hospital because I found him with puke on him and blood coming out of his little pee hole, unable to really get up. He was treated for a urinary tract blockage, which can be fatal if found too late. There was a complication at some point with the catheter being removed and finding pus around it, so after he was released from being at the hospital for a few days, he was transferred to my primary vet to monitor his recovery. That recovery never fully happened even after being there for a few days. He is able to urinate again, but only a small amount, meaning his bladder is never completely emptying unless it is expelled by the vet or tech.
My vet sent him to a specialist, where they are now going to be doing a Perineal Utherostomy to get him back to as normal as possible. For anyone unfamiliar with the medical term, it's basically a "penile amputation". This procedure removes the narrowest part of the urethra (the tube that transports the urine from the bladder to the exterior of the body), allowing easier urination with a lower risk of reobstruction.
Between the surgery at the first hospital, the time at the vet, and now the surgery and time he's having to spend at the specialist, it has put me in a sudden large amount of debt. I was given the option to have him put down, but I don't even consider that an option. My cat is part of my family. My love for him goes to the moon and back, and at no point did he ask for this to happen to him. He still has spunk left in him and has shown me he's willing to fight if I'm willing to help him.
Anyone who knows me, knows I am not the type to ask for anything, especially help. I'm about a stubborn as they come, but my baby needs my help. I love Boscoe so much. Even just a small amount will help towards paying off some of the debt from this, and if the goal is met, any additional funds will go towards providing for his future diet for his urinary needs. Please, help me to help him.
