Bos Family Fire Disaster Recovery Fund

Donation protected

Lynette and Matt Bos, proud farmers from Cudgewa, Victoria, have been devastated by the Corryong bushfire that ravaged the community on New Years Eve 2019.  They escaped harm by evacuating with their two children, Kalinda and Nixon, both who live with Angelman syndrome, and sheltering in terrifying circumstances with family and friends.

While they returned to find their house saved by courageous neighbours, they lost their ute, calf shed, cattle feed, fences and many of their precious livestock have perished or needed to be put down. Their parents who live in the area also suffered large stock and feed losses.

There is no power in the area, fuel for generators runs low, roads are closed, supermarkets are running out of food, telephone lines are down, and the house and all its contents are covered with ash.

Meanwhile Matt (an electrician) is working tirelessly to support other farmers in the community by wiring up generators and getting milk and fuel pumps running so dairies can work, and people can salvage what they have remaining.

This family needs our support to get back on their feet as soon as possible.
Their recovery now relies on feeding their remaining cattle to avoid further losses and conducting essential repairs to their property.

To go through this with two profoundly disabled children is beyond what most can contemplate.
Your contribution is truly appreciated - and will be felt across the wider community.

** IMPORTANT UPDATE - 5 January 2020 **

As you may know, the Corryong fire that devastated Lynette and Matt's property on NYE returned with a ferocious vengence yesterday.
Sadly, both Lynette's parents, and her aunt and uncle, have lost everything - their houses, sheds, machinery, tools - they are still trying to account for their livestock
These losses represent her family for generations in the area, including Lynette's grandpaprents' home, and the family home where she grew up with her siblings. So many memories. So much pain and loss.
Fortunately the family evacuated to ensure their safety.
The whole family are naturally very raw right now and in shock. The magnitude of the challenges ahead will only come to light in the coming days.
Your support means everything ❤️

The GoFundMe monies raised will support the broader family in their time of crisis.
Thank you to our amazing community xox
