Boomer's Battle

Donation protected
Hello all you lovely people,
This fundraiser is for a beloved guy who is more than just our family dog.

Boomer has been having some health concerns since early December and after many diagnostics, we learned he has lymphoma.
A mass was located in his chest after an ultrasound, and that, coupled with high calcium levels led his oncologist to reccommend an aggressive treatment for him with 5 rounds of chemotherapy to try to send him into remission.
While lymphoma in dogs is not curable and will ultimately take our buddy from us, we are determined to give him the time he deserves. For many years he has brought joy, love and happiness to so many people who have met him and we know in our hearts that he deserves the best chance he has at the
most amount of time he can get.
His lymphoma is suspected to be the more aggressive t-cell type, but with chemotherapy, remission is possible, some research I have read says this may afford him a year if treated early. It is well known however that he will eventually relapse after a remission period and a second round is not usually as successful.
Our promise to him was that we would give him a fighting chance at getting more time with the people he loves. It would mean the world to us if we could see him have many more months of contentment and happiness.

As you know this type of treatment for humans is not inexpensive, and sadly it is grossly overpriced for dogs as well.
Our goal is to provide him with a fighting chance at remission initially, and as long as his quality of life is not compromised and he still enjoys all the things he knows and loves, we will continue the treatment course that is recommended by the oncologist. If his quality of life is compromised and his health is more affected than what is expected, we will provide palliative care for the time we have left with him.

His weekly courses for this initial care are expected to be between $300 and $800 depending on the tests and care that is suggested for him for that stage of the care plan.
While I know many would write this off as simply too outrageous for the care of an animal, I emplore you to consider donating to his treatment in the spirit of empathy for a creature that far exceeds the standards of what goodness and perfection really is.
If our fundraiser is successful but his treatment is sadly unsuccessful or unable to be completed, or the amount raised exceeds the amount of his care during this time, all proceeds will be donated to the VRCC Oncology department in his honor so that more companions facing the same battle may be able to access treatment that they may not be able to otherwise.
If you can forego the price of a coffee, a lunch out or any amount in order to help us, we would all be so grateful to you for helping us give him the chance he deserves. If you cannot assist in the form of a donation, please consider sharing his fundraiser, more eyes on his cause is so very valuable as well.
From the bottom of our hearts and with the most love we have, our family would like to thank you for considering his cause, reading his story, sharing his page or donating to his fight. Boomer means the absolute world to so many people and we are finding comfort in knowing that many people outside of our circle love him just as much as we do.

We love you all
Jess, Jerms, Boomer and the girls
