Books for Second Graders

I am a teacher at Lamb Elementary in Salem-Keizer. I currently teach second grade. I usually teach grades 2-4 and have worked hard to build a classroom library that is diverse and fun. I am very proud of my classroom library. However this year, due to Covid-19 severely interrupting their education, my second graders are (save one) all reading at a Kindergarten or early first grade level (DRA levels 1-10). They are enthusiastic and ready to learn, but they are going to need a lot of support this year. Looking at my library, I realized that I do not have enough high-quality books at a kindergarten level to support their needs and allow them the joy and pride of finding books they can read by themselves.

This is a fundraiser to help me buy books from Mary Ruth Books. They are some of the highest quality books I've found for DRA levels 2-8 (mid-end of kinder level). Each book costs $5.50. I will use the funds raised to buy books for students to read 1-1 or independently, but if I can raise more than the 250 I will use the money to buy sets of these books so students can read them in small group interventions. The best series from Mary Ruth Books are the Danny books, and for years I've had emerging readers fall in love with this silly dog. Already my students are asking for more Danny books to read and we've only just started!
