Books and classes for Ukrainian kids in Hungary

We work with Anastasia Chukovskaya and together we started several pop-up libraries with books in Ukrainian for refugee kids in Hungary.
We help kids who fled the war because of the Russian invasion get access to books in their language, continue education while staying in Budapest and smaller cities, and help families with childcare needs.
After all that these families have been through, having a wonderful children's book to read is actually a great support. It's an element of the "normal" life, it calms down and soothes both the parent and the child. It helps stay in touch with the language that can be easily lost away from home. We buy books that our own kids love as well. From The Very Hungry Caterpillar, Winnie The Pooh, The Gruffalo, Pettson, and Findus to Roald Dahl's classics Matilda, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and of course Harry Potter — all in Ukrainian. We also buy books about Ukraine's history, culture, Ukrainian fairy tales, and Ukrainian authors. In these terrible times, it's a way to support not only the kids but the Ukrainian publishers as well.

What we have already done with your donations:
- provided books for the Learning Without Borders education center Anastasia has set up and two Ukrainian kindergartens in Budapest
- made sure the kids from the pop-up school Ukrainian Space and the Piarista Gymnasium got a library as well
- paid for used computers for classes in another pop-up school in Turbina club
- bought Ukrainian keyboard stickers for laptops
- donated to childcare needs
