Bookmobile for Rosarito underserved
Tax deductible
Our Bookmobile is on the road!
We have made our first two Bookmobile stops.
The shelves and rolling carts are installed, the books are loaded on.
Some 90 students from Rafael Morales Gutiérrez Elementary School happily waited for
the arrival of “books on wheels", which finally appeared on June 21 in their remote
hillside neighborhood. For a few hours we had storytelling, talked about reading for pleasure, and let them discover the variety of books we have for them. Some already chose the book they wanted to take home when we returned in a week.
By then, they had their new library cards and 47 children and adults borrowed their first library book. Harry Potter, Are You My Mother?, Coco, The Diary of Anne Frank... all found 2-week homes until we return on July 12.
We’re planning our next stops, recruiting more drivers and volunteers so that we can extend our offerings to other members of the community - neighbors, children, youth and adults who want to get a close-up view of what this Mobile Library is all about. A great beginning!
But much is left to be done - especially increasing our book offerings.
Right now we have another Match Opportunity. Thanks to a generous anonymous donors your donation between July 5 and July 12 will be matched, doubling its effectiveness! Please give and help increase our bookmobile’s library of wonderful books.
The children and families of Rosarito thank you!
