No Time For Breast Cancer

Donation protected
Despite conducting monthly breast exams and only missing November 2017 (due to my brother being killed).  On Christmas Eve 2017, I felt a large mass in my breast. On January 11, 2018 I was diagnosed with stage 3 aggressive breast cancer at only 38 years old, with no family history. I am a mother of a 16 year old and a 5 year old.

Stage 3, the doctors said. 2018 will be the hardest year of your life they said. With a long road of chemotherapy, mastectomy surgery, radiation and reconstruction, it will be a rough road - but the doctors and I are optimistic for my future.

Since my diagnosis I have chosen to be transparent on my journey, sharing the good, the bad and the ugly. If I can make a difference in someone else’s life, then it is all worth it. If you do not already, I encourage you to follow my YouTube Channel – Breast Cancer Chose Me. Though I started sharing my journey on Facebook, I have discovered that YouTube will reach more people and be easier for people in similar situations to find information.

Unfortunately, shortly after sharing my diagnosis with my employer, they let me go with no reason (which they can do in Nevada). Fortunately, COBRA insurance is available, but extremely expensive. I am blessed to have a direct sales business which I operate as my treatment and energy allows and it provides an income that usually covers my conservative monthly living expenses, but not all of the unexpected medical expenses. Unfortunately given my current medical condition and the forecasted treatments with necessary time off, employers are not eager to bring me on board despite my many applications.

Starting this campaign is one of the hardest things I have ever had to do. I am and always have been a very independent person that does not like asking for any help. Regretfully we are facing serious medical expenses with COBRA premiums and copayments. Therefore, I swallow my pride and humbly ask for assistance.

So everyone is clear on where their donation is going, below is a breakdown of the $30,000:

$25,200 – COBRA Insurance premiums thru December 2018

$1,300 – Copayments for medical appointments and diagnostic testing since January 1st

$3,500 – Anticipated copayments for medical appointments, radiation, chemotherapy, diagnostic testing, surgeries and hospital stays for the cancer thru December 2018

I promise that monies from this campaign will only be used for insurance premiums and medical expenses related to treating my breast cancer. Should there be any excess monies, they will be donated to other individuals that find themselves unexpectedly battling cancer and fighting for their lives, as I am.

Please donate, share and spread the word of my story. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hugs and love,
Andrea
