Bone's Leg Amputation

Hi, my name is Bones! I was found dumped in Parke County last weekend. A nice man found me and brought me home for the weekend before bringing me to Parke-Vermillion County Humane Society. At first, staff thought I may have been hit by a car as I do not bare weight on my front left leg and had wounds that look like I may have landed on my right side. However, after a visit to the vet's office staff learned I had gotten shot. My leg is broken in two places, and I have a bullet lodged above my paw. My leg is sadly irreparable and needs to be amputated. I am working on gaining weight and getting healthy before my surgery on October 11 and am happy to have my shelter friends. I barely notice my injury and love to bounce around just like a regular dog. I am so incredibly sweet and am a tough little guy.

Bones was evaluated by a local veterinarian who determined the best course of action and he will undergo his leg amputation and neuter on the same day so that he does not have to be under anesthesia twice. The cost will between $794 and $971. Any help towards his care is appreciated!
