Bone Marrow for Leukemia trust
Donation protected
Having not known anything about the bone marrow for leukemia trust 3 years ago, my family and I quickly became acquainted with it when I was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia in late 2016. As part of my treatment, I underwent a successful bone marrow transplant thanks to the great care and professionalism of the Haematology Department in St James’s Hospital, in the National Allogeneic Transplant Center, which is directly funded by the bone marrow trust.
The Bone Marrow Trust is a charity specifically dedicated to supporting people in Ireland who have Leukemia, Lymphoma or Myeloma and have had or may need a stem cell transplant.
It provides direct support for patients and their relatives – especially recognising the support needed for those coming from outside Dublin.
I will be forever grateful for the support given to me and my family by the bone marrow trust, so I am delighted to fundraise for this charity by taking part in the VHI Women’s Mini Marathon this June. Any donations will be greatly appreciated by myself and all those affected by leukemia in Ireland.
