Semester in Bodh Gaya, India

Hi everyone! 
My name is Jordan and I am approaching my 3rd-year as a Religious Studies student at the New College of Florida in Sarasota. I have worked hard for the unique opportunity to study abroad this Fall with Antioch University's "Buddhist Studies" program in Bodh Gaya, India. Now that I've been accepted all that stands in my way is money!

To tell you a little bit about my semester- I will be staying in a Burmese vihar (monastery) among practicing monks, and participating in intensive courses concerning Buddhist culture and philosophy. I will also be learning Hindi for the first time *woah,* and plan to study traditional Tibetan and Indian medicine. 

Since the age of 15, I have been fascinated by India- its profound culture and insightful religious foundations. Out of this interest, I chose to devote my education to Religious Studies. Though I held on strongly to this dream of traveling to India, I never imagined being this close.  

I am now mere months away from meeting this cow-revering, spirituality-seeking land. The only obstacle is funding. I have applied for a number of grants and scholarships, but I still have a ways to go. My goal is to raise $7,000 (out of $22,000) with this account, which would cover room and board for the program. I am grateful for any donation that comes my way, and look forward to sharing my India experience with you! <3
