Bob, Homeless with a Heart

Donation protected
Our dear friend Bob was evicted from his home while he was at work a few days ago after assurances from his landlord and the sheriff's department that they would accept the other part of his rent on Saturday.  The very same day that he handed his landlord every cent he could manage to scrape together,  all of the worldly possessions that he and his family owned were put out on the sidewalk. When he returned to get them,  every single item had been stolen. The house has since been condemned.  (Bob and his family had been paying $1900 a month to live in an uninhabitable home.)

My friend Bob was left with the clothes on his back, a daughter who had one day before the eviction been released from the hospital, a wife, a son, three dogs and a bird. All on the sidewalk in 30 degree weather with nowhere to go.

He is currently staying in an $89 a night hotel and he can stay for 2 more nights.

We have helped financially to get them into a temporary hotel, but, unfortunately, we are "tapped out" and needs others to please help.

We met Bob ten years ago when he painted our house and for many years he has worked as a handyman for us. He has become part of the fabric of our life and has helped us in so many ways.

We are trying to get Bob's family settled in a safe and affordable place but we also want to help them get better set up for success.

Bob is a painter and custodian and has a very strong work ethic. His wife works at WalMart and they have a daughter who has medical issues. Bob's work is sporadic, particularly in the harsh winter. He relies on others for transportation. He lost his license with unpaid traffic tickets, and he has no car to get to a workplace. He has tried to get the ticket fees waived to no avail.

Bob has a kind heart. He is always gentle, positive, ready to work and takes things in stride. His present situation has shaken him to the core.   They have no money to be able to really pay for anything (rental deposits, clothes etc.)

We hope to:
1. Help Bob's family get in an affordable safe place

2. Get Bob set up to be able to get to job sites by paying off his old tickets, get his license back, get a car and insurance

3. Help align social services to support

We would appreciate any support you can give.
