Battling Brain Cancer
Donation protected
On 04/20/18 my father had a seizure while driving home and sustained a fractured back and bleeding on the brain. The neurosurgeon and neurologist thought the brain bled was suspicious. They thought it could possibly be an old stroke site or worst case scenario, a mass on the brain.
On 04/26/18 he underwent a brain biopsy and our worst fears were confirmed. It is a glioblastoma multiforme. The worst type and most aggressive of brain tumors. This cancer has a 5 year survival rate of only 5%.
On 05/08/18 he underwent a craniotomy with tumor resection to remove as much as possible. They removed 75% of the larger tumor. It measured 7 x 6 x 5cm prior to resection.
The next step was chemotherapy and radiation at the same time. He took a chemo pill called Temodar 7 days a week and went to radiation therapy 5 days a week, Monday through Friday.
Because the car accident was caused by a seizure, he cannot drove himself until he is six months seizure free.
Our next step is on August 30th. He will undergo another MRI to determine if the chemo and radiation was successful. He will continue a maintenance dose of chemo after that, 5 days of chemo with 23 days between each cycle.
This fundraiser is to help with medical expenses: doctor visits, insurance premiums, medications, etc. He obviously can’t work at this time and his disability doesn’t kick in fully until November. It will also help since I need to take time off to help him get back and forth to appointments. It will help with food and daily living expenses as well.
If you can’t help financially, please keep us in your prayers. We have felt that constant prayers throughout this journey, please continue!
