Bobby Gallagher, The Old Fashioned Hero

Today we mourn the loss of Bobby Gallagher, the most decorated detective in the history of the New York City Police Department. Bobby's dedication to public service was exemplary.

Throughout his career he made over 1,500 arrests and assisted on an additional 2,000 others. Most of which were for the possession of illegal firearms earning him the nickname "Bobby Guns." Oftentimes, serving his community meant putting his life on the line.

In addition to being a great cop, Bobby was a beloved husband, devoted father, loving grandfather, and a supportive brother. He was also a cherished friend.

Bobby's unyielding commitment to public service was an inspiration to many, including to many of his children, who have followed in his footsteps and continue to serve the public.
