On July 20th dad started the day with a stomachache and thought nothing  of it.  After a week and half with it he decided it was time to go in.  They did a CT scan on August 3rd of  his abdomen thinking it was either an Ulcer or Hernia.  When they scans came back that Monday the said the saw a mass on his right lower lung along with lesions on his liver and his lymph nodes and wanted to do another CT scan of his chest to get a better look of the whole area.  When the results came back the next day they said he has cancer.  A biopsy was scheduled for that Thursday the 9th.  On the 15th we all went in and were told dad has a very aggressive lung cancer.  The next day he had a brain MRI and on Friday it was a PET scan.  The results were back on Friday for the MRI and he had lesions on his brain and we were set to see the Radiologist on Monday.   On Monday the 20th we were able to see the PET scan and the MRI to see where all the cancer was.  I stood behind dad and watched his lip quiver as we saw it in the lung, liver, ribs, the muscle in stomach and chest and over 20 lesion in his brain.  We knew the prognosis wasn't going to be good.  They got him all set up to start radiation that Wednesday for the lesion in the brain.

Fast forward to today (only 3 weeks later), dad has lost over 30 pounds in less than a months time, he is now very weak, doesn't have a desire to eat and drinks very little.  The cancer is taking over his body and he can no longer be left alone.  Hospice is coming in tomorrow and we will need to look into getting private care in addition to that and insurance only covers hospice. This alone will set mom back more than she can handle, not to mention becoming a single income household and fighting her own breast cancer battle.
