Bo Silliker's Get Me Home Fund

Donation protected
In December of 2016 I got a call from my Aunt Betty Ann that my dad, Robert Joseph Laurie (BO) Silliker was in the hospital.  At the time they didn't know exactly what happened, only that he was hanging on but the prognosis was uncertain.  Ultimately we discovered that he had a stroke.  It took away some of his voice for awhile (and if you know Bo you know that he has a voice!) and partially paralyzed him on his left side.  He is 74 years old.  It doesn't seem possible that he is 74 years old or that he is now partially incapacitated.  He has always been larger than life.  He is also one of the greatest people I have ever known.  A flawed human being, but one with the most generous heart I have ever met.

Everyone has heard the saying that so and so would give you the shirt off his back, etc.  Well Bo would and has given the shirt off his back for numerous people, all throughout his life.  He has tried to live his life by giving to his family and helping people in times of trouble, no matter how they got themselves there.  He now needs help, though he would be the last person to go around asking for it.  He is married to the love of his life, Kim.  My step mother Kim will soon bear the responsibility of looking after her husband who is partially paralyzed and her granddaughter who is still in elementary school.  Their income is limited as you can imagine.  She has promised him that she would never put him in a home and she intends to bring him home in the next few weeks.

They will need a portable lift, a wheelchair, a ramp for outside the house and I am sure other things will crop up.  We are hoping that Red Cross will cover some of these things but we are by no means certain that it will cover anything, frankly.  Not many of us are wealthy with money, but let's hope we are wealthy with friends. In that vein, I am calling on all of his family and friends to help contribute to his gofundme page and help Kim keep him home and to get the things they need.  Five dollars is better than a kick in the ass, but feel free to contribute what you can.  Please, I am a skeptical and somewhat realistic person, make me an optimist again.  I have always said that your real friends are those that are there for you when you really  need them and they are sadly often only a few.  Where are his real friends now?  Where are you when you know he has been there for you time and time again?  I know that Kim and Bo would appreciate the support more than most.  And he is deserving more than most.
