Sheldon's Vet Bills and End of Life Care

Hi, my name is LeAnn Karpenske. Our conure, Sheldon, has been sick, and has been diagnosed with kidney disease.

This comes as a shock. She was fine at her last check-up in summer of 2023. The bloodwork done Tuesday shows uric acid was off the charts and she's lost 5 grams.

She'll be going on prescription food as well as daily medication to help excrete the uric acid. Her prognosis is anywhere from 2 months to a year, most likely on the shorter end with as quickly as this has come on.

We welcomed Sheldon into our family a few weeks before she turned 6 months old. On May 1st, we will have had her for 15 years. Fuji has always had Sheldon. They are a mated pair. I can't fathom what our lives will be without her.

Any donations will go for her vet bills and giving her the best life possible while she's still with us. Our number one priority is that she not suffer.

I hate that I even have to ask, but we’re basically a single-income family and every dollar will help. Jeremy and I would appreciate whatever amount you can afford.

If any money is left over, we’ll donate the remainder to a local bird rescue.
