USJN Nationals-Washington, DC (OTE 7th Girls)

William Shakespeare said it best, “Though she be but little she is fierce.” While Shakespeare did not know this group of basketball players, we think he had an idea of girls like the young ladies on the Over the Edge (OTE) 7th grade girls burgundy team. The team won the USJN Windy City Championship 13U division in Wisconsin qualifying them to compete in the Bluestar Nationals in Washington, DC in July. “I have coached most of these young ladies since 3rd and 4th grade, they were made for a moment like this” said, Head OTE Coach, Keith Miniscalco. “Some wish for it, we work for it!” added Miniscalco.

This team may be small in stature, but they are large in their tenacity and fight. Despite often being outsized by their opponents, their passion and love for the game often offsets any size advantage their competitors have. This was never more evident than in their most impressive run through the regional qualifying tournament. This group has been together for many years as a team and their hard work on and off the court has helped them form a bond that will create memories that will last a lifetime.

Nationals is no small undertaking for parents, players and coaches. It's a big team committment that requires multiple additional practices, family travel and lodging, and plenty of meals to keep the girls fueled over a 5 day tournament. Any donation amount will be GREATLY appreciated by the team!

Over The Edge (OTE) is a Chicago area travel basketball organization located on the Northwest side of Chicago. OTE offers youth travel team programs to grade school level, and high school level students.
