Blue Ridge High School Wrestling Fundraiser

We are raising funds this season for the Blue Ridge wrestling program. We are a growing wrestling program in the Upstate of South Carolina and have a lot of good things going for us. Our wrestlers are hard working and eager to learn. In the past 4 seasons we have made two 4A playoffs appearances and qualified or placed nearly a dozen wrestlers in the 4A State Championship tournament.
What do your donations go towards?
1) The main costs associated with a wrestling season come from tournament entry fees, which range from $200-$300 for a high school tournament and $100-$120 for a middle school one. We are entering into over $1600 worth of tournaments this season as a team.
2) I would love to purchase some equipment for the team to improve our training. Currently on our wish list are new throwing dummies to help wrestlers practice new throwing techniques before trying them on their teammates. These items typically cost $300+. I would also love to purchase a team set of jump ropes for us to aid in conditioning, which will also cost in total some $300.
3) Finally, offseason wrestling opportunities. The opportunity to get on the mat in the offseason and compete as well as go to collegiate wrestling camps can make the difference in an average wrestler and a great wrestler. I would love to provide the opportunity for my wrestlers to attend a collegiate wrestling camp over the summer and to attend summer wrestling opportunities allowed by the SCHSL at schools around the Greer area. The typical wrestling camp, using the Appalachian State camp as an example, costs $365 per wrestler, which covers their camp costs, food, and lodging for 4 days. As you can see, taking an entire team to a camp can be more expensive than an entire season of tournaments. Being able to help supplement or cover the costs of a summer camp for my wrestlers to give them an opportunity to go would represent a major step forward for our program and would immensely improve our performance on the mat in the upcoming season.
