Bloody Influencers - a 5 star one woman comedy

Hi, my name is Ena Begovic, I’m an actress and producer raising funds for my one-woman theatre show Bloody Influencers, (contemporary and forward-thinking comedy)

This one hour long play tells the story of Insta influencer Daisy Woolworth, whose self-absorbed life starts to fracture as her social media addiction escalates, setting her on a path of truth, self-discovery and therapy that's supposed to make everything better.

Although it’s a comedy, its undertones are thick with drama and the tragedy that is an unchecked love of the shallow spotlight that online platforms can provide.

The show questions the value of realities we are constantly showered by on social media and how they compare to what’s happening behind the selfies, memes and inspirational hashtags. This is a new writing raising mental health awareness.

I, like many people, struggled with mental health and felt unsupported and without a community as a Croatian immigrant new to England, so I felt the need to bring that part of me to the character who is trying to replace a real human connection with social media.

My initial story was turned into a play with the support of British writer Ben Mansbridge and transferred to the stage by Mexican-American director Sofia Zaragoza. We are a small team and, so far, the show has been self-produced but still received incredible reviews. After the first successful run at Barons Court Theatre in London, we’re excited to announce that we’re going to Brighton Fringe.

However, to get the ball rolling we need the funds to pay for theatre spaces, Public Liability Insurance, marketing, flyering, travel, accommodation and making sure my 3-person team doesn’t starve.
