Help Jessica Pay Medical Expenses

In the United States, millions of Americans do not have employer-paid health insurance so they go without. Premiums and deductibles can be astronomical.... such is Jessica’s story:

Jessica has worked in food service her entire adult life  She has been a dedicated worker for many years, often holding 2-3 jobs and working as many as seventy hours a week to support her family 

SURGERY NECESSARY 
For several months Jessica had been feeling ill and extremely exhausted. Thinking she could work through it she continued — until she simply couldn’t. She was sent home from work a month ago until she felt better. 

While at home her health continued to decline and she was admitted to Long Beach Memorial Hospital. Her blood count (hemoglobin) was at a critical level and she was administered three units of blood. She also received tests to determine she needed a hysterectomy. Uninsured, she chose to go home. The bill for 10 hours was over $17,000! To an uninsured restaurant worker that is an impossible amount of money. 

HIGH PREMIUMS AND DEDUCTIBLES 
Thankfully, Jessica was able to sign up for medical insurance during a special enrollment period. Even with high premiums, she must pay $10,000 in deductibles and out-of-pocket expenses for her May 25 surgery. Moreover, she is unable to return to work until after her post-operation appointment on June 8. She is not receiving any income from her employer during this three-month period. However, she will receive some state disability to cover her housing expenses.

HOW TO HELP
Her family has helped her some, but no one has the complete resources to cover her medical costs. Jessica urgently needs and greatly appreciates your donation of any amount to help her pay the healthcare expenses she incurred before obtaining health insurance and to cover her out-of-pocket medical costs for her surgery.
