Blake SDR operation
Helps him to walk
Hi everyone
Our little super star Blake was born at 29 weeks premature on December 13th 2013 after a particularly difficult pregnancy complicated by diagnosis of TWIN-TO-TWIN transfusion syndrome. TTT is very rare and serious condition that can occur in pregnancy. After 3 days on NICU (newborn intensive care unit) we lost Blake’s twin brother Barkley. Unfortunately, complications arising from the TWIN-TO-TWIN and being premature left Blake with Cerebral palsy (CP) and he is deaf as well as having complex learning difficulties. Blake is unable to speak and communication can be difficult, although he does know how to make it clear when he wants something! Blake recently has had Cochlear implants so now he can hear everyone but is unable to walk as without the SDR operation he cannot support his own weight.
Blake is now 5 and cannot sit unaided, stand up or walk. Blake uses a wheelchair and various equipment at home and school.
Despite all this, he’s very happy boy and he tries so hard to keep a smile on his face, working hard at school and doing his daily exercise. Blake has a lot of lovely, supportive friends around him and would love to be able to keep up with them on the play ground.
Please help us get the SDR operation for Blake to be able to walk and be more independent for many years to come.
Any help at all would be hugely appreciated.
Thank you so much
