Hello, my name is Blairre Melvin. I'm 26 years old and live in Las Cruces, NM. I'm a 3rd grade teacher and love my job! My favorite parts of my life though are my roles of being of a wife to my husband, John, and a mother to my babies, Carson,3, and Kennedy,2.
My journey started this past September when I had a severe headache and stomachache for a week. Later in the week, I felt so sick that I went into the ER and during that time I experienced my very first seizure. I was terrified and hoped that I never had to go through that again. Little did I know, this would be the beginning of a long journey.
The seizures continued and only progressed. I visited the ER several times and was taken by ambulance once. I was a regular. I was even told to not go back because there was nothing more they could do for me. I was so desperate for help that I agreed to be hospitalized for 4 days during Thanksgiving break.
I wish seizures were all that I had experienced. However, I felt like my body was no longer under my control. Over the span of almost 6 months, I have experienced muscular, skeletal, nerve, and organ pain. Pain that is excruciating and that most medication has not helped. I have also experienced paralysis, severe headaches/migraines, memory loss, and even my ability to speak.
What has been most puzzling has been the lack of answers and the wide variety of diagnoses. Most recently, I was referred to Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota to receive better care. I truly believe that God has put Minnesota in my path for a reason and I'm hoping it's for more answers.
I'm asking that you please open your hearts to my family. We are asking for prayers, positive vibes, and positive thoughts. We would also appreciate any financial donation you can make to help our family with past, current, and future medical costs and trip expenses while in Minnesota for a minimum of a week. Matthew 9:20-22 “Just then a woman who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years came up behind him and touched the edge of his cloak. She said to herself, “If I only touch his cloak, I will be healed.” Jesus turned and saw her. “Take heart, daughter,” he said, “your faith has healed you.” And the woman was healed at that moment.”
