THE REASON and the Task:
Now more than ever, it is clear that Black and Brown communities remain vulnerable and are most deeply impacted by both natural and man-made disasters. Last week’s horrific events across Texas have spurred us to action. BLACK BROADWAY MEN has partnered with Houston CARES, an affiliate of the National CARES Mentoring Movement, to get much needed supplies and supports to children and families in need. Working together, we will ensure that the organizations who are most connected to our communities will have additional resources to meet the moment. HOUSTON CARES will be the hands-on entity distributing every single penny they receive from us to African American & underserved communities in the Third and Fifth ward of Texas with food resources, housing assistance, clean water and essential needed services in Texas. Through our principle of UNITY, we are seeking to raise at least a minimum of $5,000.00 by asking everyone who can give to join us in this journey of surpassing our goal and providing incredible financial support to the hurting communities in Texas as soon as possible. We want to do more than spread joy from the Broadway stage. We want to do all we can to help off the stage to save as many lives as we can...together.
THE MISSION of the Organizations:
BLACK BROADWAY MEN UNITED, INC. is a 501(c)(3) NonProfit Organization which motivates, educates and celebrates Black men of the Broadway and theatre community abroad by creating unity, finding strength and embracing the legacy of those that have come before us because we are the legacy for those to come after us.
HOUSTON CARES, an affiliate of the National CARES Mentoring Movement is a 501(c)(3) NonProfit Organization that secures, heals and transforms the lives of Black children by inspiring, recruiting and mobilizing masses of caring Black men and women to mentor and nourish them. This company focuses on the emotional, social and academic development of children and the wellness of the adults who parent, mentor and educate them.
THE REQUEST:
