Howdy y’all. I would first like to thank y’all for every clicking on this link/post.
On Sunday May 31st in the midst of the chaos that erupted after George Floyd’s murder, I was attacked by my ex-partner. I was choked unconscious and rushed to the emergency room. My attacker was jailed. To add fuel to this fire I had contacted Austin Police Department just 4-5 days before because I was kicked in the stomach unprovoked by my ex and they came into my home and told me “since you’re not bleeding and don’t need an EMS we can’t do anything...” despite my attacker admitting to physically violating me. They left without doing anything but taking a statement. I immediately filed for a protective order.
Out of fear I moved apartments. Unfortunately because my ex was in jail at the time I have to pay a full months worth of his rent just to get my name off the lease and pay for a new place. I also started school on June 1st and had to pay out of pocket because I did not receive financial aid. I had intentions of buying a car but due to all of these circumstances I am now left with an dwindling savings, no job, a payment due in July for school and a sublease that is ending in 2 months with no income.
I would really appreciate any donation/support that can be given.
I am doing my best to seek solutions so if anyone has any information on grants that I could apply for or programs that could assist me I would really appreciate that as well.
