blackpanther: for homeless teens DFW

Donation protected
Greetings! My name is Jennifer Paez I am 22 years old and being a participant in the education of the youths of America I think it is high time we put more focus and attention into our future: OUR children.

Unfortunately, the world we live in today is a sometimes cold one. Terrible things happen, and as an educator my hearts ACHES that I can’t protect every kid from small to big, shelter from any fear, hatred, worries, etc they may experience and confront in regards to attending school and their potential safety.
I was blessed to grow up in a world where even amidst terrorist attacks (I’m a former New Yorker, was in 1st grade during 9/11) I still felt confident and safe enough to step outside my home and do what children do best; be happy and smile. This is a gift I would like to be able to pass on to others.

Unfortunately in today’s world that’s not a feeling that’s as widespread as it use to be.

My goal from this campaign is to raise money for homeless teens in a shelter in my area DFW (TX) to be able to take a group trip to see Black Panther which premiered this past weekend in theatres. The funding would go towards sending at LEAST 30 KIDS to the theatre, some chaperones (as most of these kids are under 18 and need supervision), a mode of transportation (most likely a bus of some sort.) and maybe a small snack or lunch to add onto the magnificent movie experience.

I am fully aware many may be hesitant to donate money for this and may think I should have other priorities in mind for these children. Which might be true. But it’s so much more probable to come across donations for housing, and bedding, and clothing these kids not to mention food, but MANY overlook the idea that many of these kids worry about this on the daily and few have had the opportunity to do something so simple as go to a theatre, not have to worry about money and enjoy and relax during a movie. By going through with this campaign I hope to remind all who come across this that children require more than clothes on their backs and food in their mouths: we as the adults have to look after their physical, mental as well as EMOTIONAL well being. A viewing of this movie will hopefully land in the 3rd subject.

Kids should be kids and be able to enjoy life, even if this would only provide that feeling for the duration of the movie.

Do to many of these aforementioned children being underage I cannot give full disclosure such as the name of the organisation which would be receiving these funds, since there are VARIOUS reasons to why these kids may have become homeless, the organisation runs on the down-low to ensure their safety.

It would be an amazing honor and a wonderful opportunity to be able to gift these children with the ability to breathe and relax have fun with friends and TRULY experience the feeling of being a child, a teenager. To for once, be able to feel carefree and have fun, even if it is only for the duration of the movie and/or possible lunch.

In addition, in a cinematic industry where most of the actors portraying potential heroes (both real and the “super hero kind”) are light skinned, this showing could help motivate and create more suitable and applicable role models to ALL youths, especially these disadvantaged minorities. Showing that all careers and dreams are attainable regardless of your upbringing and skin tone. Heroes come in all shapes and colours.

If any remainding funds, they would be immediately allocated to this organisation that houses these teens, and would most likely be distributed towards funding for food, housing, toiletries, school supplies etc all to be used at the discretion of the organisation.

If you find it in your heart to give, remember that ANY little bit helps! Please help me gift these children a smile or two!

If you are unable to give, even just sharing the link to my campaign whether it’s verbally or through social media can help and would help!

A million thanks to all who may come across this page.
