Photographing the Black Mambas

In 2018, I was able - thanks, in part, to generous GoFundMe donors - to travel to Kenya to create portraits of the participants in the Maasai Olympics and anti-poaching rangers who work for The Big Life Foundation. That amazing trip was my first foray into photographing people who work in the field of conservation; people who are able to recognize the interconnectedness of man and the natural world and work together for the benefit of not only their own communities, but the local wildlife populations, as well.
I now have the opportunity to travel to South Africa to photograph the all-female anti-poaching unit the Black Mambas. I will spend several days in November with the Mambas, creating portraits, accompanying them on patrols, and interviewing them. I am very excited about this expansion of the project, specifically focusing on the work that women are doing in conservation and providing them with the opportunity to tell their stories through interviews.
Your donations will help pay for my flight to South Africa and travel within the country, accommodations, film, processing, and printing, and any required vaccinations.
This trip won't be cheap, and every little bit helps. Every donation, no matter how small, is greatly appreciated, and every donor will receive my heartfelt thanks.
