Black Lives Matter BackPackEd Campaign

IT IS A FACT YOU MUST HAVE THE PROPER TOOLS TO ACHIEVE SUCCESS!

Welcome to our Black Livs Matter BackPackEd© 2002-2021 Campaign where 100% of your donations, plus proceeds from the Black Lives Matter apparel will provide free backpacks to HRM and surrounding areas!

BackPackEd© is an annual initiative created by the team and teens of the social enterprise Teens Now Talk and =ITY, Inspiring Today’s Youth Society. One of our many annual communITY initiative is, to provide our underprivileged and most vulnerable black youth living in poverty with free backpacks, filled with the necessary tools and supplies to ensure they can focus on their education and success.

Every child should have equal opportuITY and access to school supplies. We can all remember the feeling on the first day of school. Some students came equipped with the hottest brands, full backpack, and an apple for the teacher in hand. Others, sat at their desk, empty-handed wishing they had an apple to eat.

Why BackPackEd© Campaign
"I was one of those low income, young single black moms people looked down upon or say she would not amount to anything says Jessica Bowden M.S.M. I knew then and even now, the importance and daily struggles of protecting your black children.  The battle to ensure they receive an equal opportunity to an education conducive to their dreams and aspirations.  I also remember the feelings when sending your child to school with close to nothing to start on the first day due to poverty. I also remember the look in their eyes when you pick them up after school and they talk about how they were treated differently, given free stuff from the teachers "I don't have the box", and everyone else would make fun of them.  My goal then and now is to be apart of the change, not because you're black and poor, because you deserve that right like everyone else.  This is one of the reasons the BackPackEd© Campaign started."

We at Teens Now Talk knows the importance of Black Lives Matter and there is more then paper and pens inside our BackPack school bags, there are opportunities to dream and achieve!

COVID-19 impacted families already living in poverty causing many families to lose the income required to meet daily needs. The 2020-2021 school year is here and there is even less in the family budget to provide their youth with the basic and necessary school supplies. Not to mention some students will now learn virtually from home and require computers.

To assist with the BackPackEd© campaign, Teens Now Talk started a Black Lives Matter clothing line where proceeds from tees (ending Aug 5, 2020) are invested into our BackPackED© 2020-2021 Back-2-School Campaign.  Visit Teens Now Talk Apparel to make a purchase!

The CommunITY Need;

Our goal was 50 backpacks to powerful black youth to start. We quickly discovered the communITY need is larger than our growing black-owned business and we ask for your support.  The more we receive the more our communities receive.

Plus the 2020 cost for grade 7-12 student supplies this year is ranging from $60 – $150 per youth. This does not include the first-year university students who require laptops due to classes now online and textbooks.

Together we can do this!

 How can you help?

We greatly respect and appreciate any donation you can give and 100% of your BackPackEd© donation, will go directly into the bookbags as well as the supplies required to stuff these bags.

49775482_1595252422811864_r.jpegA backpack might not seem like a big deal to some, but to a struggling student with limited resources, it could mean the difference between acing a class or dropping out. Your help will help us make their first day a lasting impression.

We greatly appreciate any donation you can give and we love showing our communities who have their black youth backs.

A Thank you card will be placed inside all backpack with the names of all donors, if you do not wish your name mention, kindly let us know.

Thank you in advance for your support.

UPDATES and photos of the smiles you help make will be posted.

Thank you in advance for your support
