Richard's Charity Run Challenge - #5KADAY365

Donation protected
(Please note Lorna Taylor is acting as the manager of the Chamber account and all funds will go to our chosen charities)

A 5-kilometre run. Every day. For a year.

Richard Brooks, Membership Advisor at the Black Country Chamber of Commerce, is taking on this year-long challenge, running 5km every day from the opening of the rescheduled Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games to the start of the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.

Richard will be pushing his fitness to the limit to raise money for the Teenage Cancer Trust and Parkinson's UK - the Chamber's chosen charities for 2021, as selected by our President, Jude Thompson.

These organisations do fantastic work in areas which are close to the heart of our Chamber family. In the coming months, the Chamber team will work closely with both charities to create some amazing fundraising activities to raise as much money as we possibly can.

Everything the frontline and research teams do for these two amazing charities is dependent on donations and the COVID-19 pandemic has seen charities across the country take a huge financial hit.

This dedicated page has been set up to help us fundraise for our two chosen charities.

Parkinson’s UK

What is Parkinson's?

• Parkinson's is a progressive neurological condition. This means that it causes problems in the brain and gets worse over time.
• Around 145,000 people live with Parkinson’s in the UK.
• It is the fastest growing neurological condition in the world.
• Every hour two more people are diagnosed with Parkinson’s.
• Thanks to fundraising and a 50-year research story, the condition is more understood than ever before.
• Funding the right research into the most promising treatments, can get scientists closer to a cure every day.

All donations are welcome and will be shared evenly between the two charities.

On behalf of the Black Country Chamber team, Parkinson’s UK and the Teenage Cancer Trust thank you for your support.
