Hi my name is Kim Courtright and I have been working as a missionary for 8 years with an organization, Kids International Ministries. I have worked in Manila, Philippines, Bogota, Colombia and most recently Tacloban, Philippines. Tacloban was the port city that got devastated by the Super Tyhoon that hit November 8, 2013. Four days after the typhoon, Kids International Ministries sent Filipino workers and missionary staff to bring relief to Tacloban and the surrounding areas and has been there ever since.
I first went to Tacloban 3 weeks after the storm and my main focus was to go out and feed the victims and find families that we knew to see if they were still alive.
I then returned in March 2014 almost four months after the storm. Even though there was lots of improvement there is still a long way to go. I was in Tacloban for four months during that time our organization purchased property to be a ministry site on the outskirts of Tacloban. It is a huge asset for the ministry; housing teams and Filipino staff, giving us opportunity to receive and hand out relief supplies, starting kids ministries, feeding people in the communities, and bringing hope back to the people of Tacloban.
I was asked by our organization to help run this ministry site and continue our work in Tacloban. I would love to be able to return to help run the ministry site. In order to return to the Philippines I need to raise onetime gifts that would cover: flight costs(1,600), emergency funds(1,600), and reserve funds (3,600). I also need to raise monthly support through monthly partners as well and if you would like to partner in that way you can message me and I can tell you how that can be done. (I need about $870 monthly)
