Biscuits & Vinyl Almeda Fire Recovery Fund

On September 8th, 2020 the Almeda Fire devastated the communities of Talent and Phoenix, OR. Hundreds of homes and businesses were lost, including our sweet little record store, Biscuits & Vinyl. We are very grateful that our home was spared and that we are safe, but our hearts are aching for our community. The stories are gut wrenching. If you haven’t already done so, please consider helping some of the hundreds who have lost their homes and livelihoods in this tragedy.

As for Biscuits & Vinyl, we are fortunate to have had an insurance policy. However, after speaking with the adjuster, we discovered that it is only going to cover about ¼ of the inventory alone. In addition to the inventory, we lost all of the operating equipment that we had invested in over the years. There has never been any doubt in our minds that we are going to rebuild and reopen, but this discovery has left us feeling much less prepared to do so.

We have loved being part of the vinyl community and the special little town of Talent. The outpouring of support from all of you has sent the clear message that not only do you want to see us reopen, but also that you want to help us. We’ve hesitated to ask for, or accept, anything because there are so many others in such great need around us. However, we realize the joy a community record store brings. We want to be there for all of you again as soon as possible, and in order to do that, we are humbly reaching out.

Our goal is to double what we will receive from our insurance policy. This will allow us to recover less than 50% of what was lost in the store, but it will get us up-and-running and ready to serve you again soon.

We still have a small garage full of backstock and will continue to have new releases for sale. A local property owner has graciously offered a little spot in Talent, right down the street from the shop, to set up a pop-up for both upcoming Record Store Day drops, 9/26 & 10/24.  Things are moving along already. We are hopeful!
