My name is Elizabeth McIrvin and I'm a self taught filmmaker in Los Angeles. Over the past five years of living here I've written, directed and edited many short films, music videos and sketches. But obviously, during the pandemic, I put my own projects on hold as many artists have. I'm so ready to make something that I'm proud of and can show how far I've come with all the skills I've learned over the years. I have complete confidence that this is something I could submit to film festivals and win. I've got an amazing cast and crew ready to go. This is a short horror film I'm making. There aren't a lot of female directors given opportunities in general, but especially in the horror genre. It's a genre I've fallen in love with over the years. Fear and tension aren't just for shock effect, it's a valuable tool and filter to explore the many complex dimensions of a person. This story centers around a main female character embracing her anger, like Kill Bill or Promising Young Woman. It's an emotion that is not explored in female characters that often because it's not "lady like" or what people expect to see from a woman. That is a goal of mine as a writer and director, to subvert expectations and give the audience a new perspective. I'm shooting this very soon so whatever you can donate I'd really appreciate!
