Billy Therriault Scoreboard

Donation protected
Put simply, Billy Therriault was an angel. Billy was unable to walk and talk due to his lifelong fight against Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) Type I - a degenerative muscular disease affecting the motor nerve cells in the spinal cord. While his body was constrained, his spirit was boundless. Billy loved the game of football and joined the Fairfield Giants team in 2013 . With his mother Katy pushing him, Billy’s big, beautiful eyes danced as he glided across Sullivan Field for football practice or on game day. As honorary captain, he was an ever-present source of encouragement and inspiration from the sidelines during practice and games, joining in huddles with his fellow teammates. The players, cheerleaders, coaches, and families rallied around Billy, greeting him with wide smiles and high fives every time he was near.

On the morning of September 14, 2017, Billy passed away from complications of SMA at the age of 12. To honor Billy and his love of football, his family is raising funds in Billy’s memory to purchase a new scoreboard for the Fairfield Giants; an organization that was so near and dear to Billy and his family. The scoreboard will be located at Sullivan Field in Fairfield, CT and will proudly display Billy’s name in a prominent location. 100% of donations in Billy’s memory will go directly to the purchase of a scoreboard. The Fairfield Giants are a 501(c)3 organization and donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by the Internal Revenue Service.
