Brittony's Funeral Costs for her Dad, Bill Ogden

Donation protected
Hello, this fundraiser was created to help late artist Bill Ogden’s daughter Brittony Ogden Queen manage the aftermath of his passing. Please consider donating to help Brittony with the unexpected funeral costs, clean up and repair to his cabin home and art studio, along with the legal fees that probate brings with it.

Artist Bill Ogden is known for his surf-inspired psychedelic artwork. His exceptional talent and artistry have made him a legend amongst the surf community and the Laguna Beach art world he had long called home.

In recent years Bill moved to the mountains to live in a rustic cabin where he continued to paint and draw right up until his unexpected passing. He had been working on many projects, including a podcast and documentary about his life. The story of Brittony and Bill is the unexpected gift that came in the last chapter of his storied life.

For those unacquainted with Bill’s daughter Brittony, it was only a few years ago that she took a leap of faith to find her father after years of wondering about who he was. Brittony lost her mother at the age of 18 and only had partial stories of who her dad might be. After a DNA test and a match to another relative, she was pointed to Bill, who she had heard tale was likely her father. After the initial shock, Bill took a DNA test, and the paternal match was confirmed. He was a new father at age 74.

After going through life thinking he was navigating life as a solo artist, it was quite a surprise for Bill to learn that he had a daughter and a granddaughter. He welcomed Brittony and they bonded over shared traits both physical and non—the almond shaped eyes with a distinctive twinkle, the nose, the artistic nature, and larger-than-life personalities with a penchant for solitude are just a few of those. Upon seeing Brittony, Bill remarked that Brittony looked like her grandmother, the grandmother that she would loved to have known. Brittony was relieved to have a history to connect her too. Getting to know her dad, she found so many things starting to make sense. She had also traveled solo for far too long; this was her father, a man and an artist with a richness of life that she could take in and get to know.

Sadly Bill passed away earlier this month. Brittony hoped to have more time to spend with him, more stories to hear, and moments to share. Now she takes on the journey of returning him home to the ocean that he was so inspired by. She also plans to work to repair his studio home so she can live there and continue learning more about her dad. She is proud of his life’s work and looks forward to keeping his legacy alive.

Please help us support Brittony. She has always worked hard to take care of herself without the safety net of parents or family, and we, her friends, are looking to make sure she does not go into debt trying to pay for funeral costs, securing a probate attorney, and managing necessary repairs to her dad's cabin and art studio. Thank you for any little bit that you can contribute to help her manage during this time. She is grateful for the love and support during this challenging time.
