My Dad's medical bills
Donation protected
As some of you all may already know, my dad was just diagnosed with acute monocytic leukemia. He has been sick since July. They originally diagnosed him with things such as a sinus infection and a stomach infection. On October 16th, he was not doing well at all when I went to visit. He could barely stand. Rachel and I took him to the emergency room. His white blood cell count was through the roof and his red count was so low that he required a blood transfusion. The lack of red blood cells was causing weakness and disorientation. He has been in the hospital since then. We are awaiting an opening at Moffitt. He will be starting an intensive schedule of chemotherapy. Dad will be in the hospital for quite a while.
Dad has always worked so hard. For as long as I can remember, he was putting in 12 hour days 6-7 days a week to try to provide a good life for his family. Unfortunately, since he has not been able to work the bills have been accumulating. Now medical bills are piling up on top of everything else. I know Dad is too proud to ask for help from anyone, so I am asking for him. He needs to be able to focus all of his energy on trying to beat this thing. He is extremely worried about not being able to provide for Mom. If we could take some of the monetary worries off of him, I'm hoping he will focus more on his own health.
Anything you can donate would be so greatly appreciated. It would go directly to my parents to pay their mortgage, utilities and medical payments. I can't tell you how much it would mean.
Also, we are working on applying for disability and medicaid for my dad. This is all new to us, so we don't really know what we're doing. If anyone has any experience with any of this and can give us any advice or put us in contact with anyone that can help, the information would be much appreciated.
